Scientific Words in Food & Nutrition

Although food is the main engine that provides energy to propel the human body towards various activities, food without nutrients is of little use in building a healthy body and mind. A balanced diet composed of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, antioxidants and fibers in adequate proportions is essential to combat genetic, contagious and infectious diseases. Food and nutrition researchers are emphasizing the importance of foods that can fight or cure various lifestyle-related and metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Researchers are also increasingly focusing on locally available and indigenous food varieties known for their nutritional values ??in disease prevention and treatment. Away from major staples like rice, corn and wheat, nutritionists are now turning to millet, quinoa, brown rice and sorghum to fight malnutrition.
