Human factors and ergonomics  is a multifaceted field integrating contributions from psychology, engineering, biomechanics, mechanobiology, industrial design, physiology and anthropometry. In crux, it involves the study of designing equipment and devices that fit the human body and its cognitive abilities. The two expressions "human factors" and "ergonomics" are fundamentally synonymous.
