Textiles have advanced from one progressive step to another. Evidence of the first textile materials go back to the Stone Age. Running about naked is not an option when the temperature is below zero and where you could quite easily freeze to death. Science has helped us to understand the knowledge and art of textile materials for apparel into the complex fabrics that have been created for many different types of end users. This chapter describes some of these processes from the evolutionary pathways of textiles and apparel and its journey, right up to the present day and predictions beyond. It is also important to acknowledge that a whole book could be written on this one topic alone therefore only what is considered to be an insight into the wonderful world of future textiles and apparel is given here.
