Soil Mechanics
Soil Mechanics refers to the specialist area of civil engineering requiring studies of the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of soils, and the application of these studies to the design, analysis, and construction of civil engineering structures— principally foundations, retaining walls, sheet pile walls, cofferdams, earth and rockfill dams, natural and man-made slopes, open excavations, tunnels, and pavement structures. It is necessary to consider the influence of the actual soil voltage distribution when establishing the consolidation equation to more realistically reflect the soil consolidation conditions during the vacuum preloading and electroosmosis process. The distribution of the soil voltage is analyzed by integrating previous results with independent experimental findings. The equation for the dissipation of the excess pore water pressure and the soil consolidation equation is derived based on the proposed model with a closed anode and an open cathode, and the analytical solution is verified by a model test. Based on the formation, soil can be divided into two groups: i) soils that are formed due to physical and chemical weathering of the parent rocks ii) soil which is of organic origin. The causes of the physical weathering of parent rocks are the impact and grinding action of flowing water, wind, ice and splitting action of ice, plants and animals. Gravel and sand are the soil that are formed due to the physical weathering of parent rocks. The causes of the chemical weathering of the parent rocks are oxidation, hydration, carbonation and leaching by organic acids and water. This information can be published in our peer-reviewed journal with impact factors and are calculated using citations not only from research articles but also review articles (which tend to receive more citations), editorials, letters, meeting abstracts, short communications, and case reports. The inclusion of these publications provides the opportunity for editors and publishers to manipulate the ratio used to calculate the impact factor and try to increase their number rapidly. Impact factor plays a major role for the particular journal. Journal with higher impact factor is considered to be more important than other ones.
