Reliable signature discovery methods could yield valuable insight into cell biology and mechanisms of human disease. A disease signature is calculated by identifying the differentially expressed genes between tumor samples and same-tissue controls. DNA signatures are nucleotide sequences that can be used to detect the presence of an organism and to distinguish that organism from all other species.
