Purification Fractionation Journals
Purification is the physical or chemical process of removing contaminants from a compound. The physical processes may include sublimation, distillation, filtration, crystallisation, or extraction. The chemical processes may involve formation of a derivative, purification of the derivative and recovery of the original material in a pure form of the derivative. Separation and purification, in chemistry, separation of a substance into its components and the removal of impurities. There are a large number of important applications in fields such as medicine and manufacturing. A purification process that removes fractions with limited antioxidant activity enables a good level of antioxidant activity to be obtained from relatively small amounts of the original natural extract. Moreover, it is also important to obtain pure extracts to ensure the identity and safety of antioxidant compounds to be used as food additives.
