Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a very common disorder and refers to a group of conditions where there is accumulation of excess fat in the liver of people who drink little or no alcohol. The most common form of NAFLD is a non serious condition called fatty liver. While NAFLD is mostly benign, left unaddressed it can develop into a much more harmful disease-state called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which involves inflammation of the liver. ... About 20% of those diagnosed with NASH develop cirrhosis, which is a serious problem that can lead to many complications. The liver is constantly in a state of regeneration. The moment it stops processing alcohol, it begins the process of healing itself. This process could take as few as four weeks or as long as several years. It really all depends on the health of the individual person.
