Molecular Oncology is an open access journal for new discoveries, approaches, and technical developments in basic, clinical, and discovery-driven translational cancer research. We focus on work that significantly advances understanding of disease processes leading to human tumour development and/or establishes novel concepts of clinical significance in diagnosis, prognosis, and prevention strategies. In this work, we investigate the importance of molecular investigations applied to bronchial washings collected during fibre‐optic bronchoscopy for lung lesions. Using a cancer‐specific DNA methylation panel and gene mutations analyses, we demonstrated that bronchial washing represents a useful material for performing molecular tests in lung cancer patients.
