Meningioma
A meningioma is a tumor that forms on membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord just inside the skull. Specifically, the tumor forms on the three layers of membranes that are called meninges. These tumors are often slow-growing. As many as 90% are benign (not cancerous). Most meningiomas occur in the brain. Based on these statistics, meningiomas are among the most common of all brain tumors, accounting for about one-third of cases. If meningiomas do cause problems, they are often treated surgically with relative ease. That said, meningiomas can sometimes be serious or even life-threatening. A meningioma is a tumour that grows out of the meninges, for reasons unknown. ... Meningiomas respond well to treatment, with eight out of 10 cases cured. Treatment options include brain surgery, steroid drugs and anti-epileptic medications
