High blood pressure is also called Hypertension and it is a serious medical condition. It happens when the force of the blood pumping through your arteries is too strong. The high blood pressure usually does not cause any symptoms but the long term high blood pressure, however, is a major risk factor for stroke, Coronary Artery Disease, peripheral vascular disease, Heart Failure, vision loss, and chronic kidney disease. Hypertension can strain the heart, damage blood vessels, kidney problems, and increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death. Hypertension is fairly common among the human population and is oft en unregulated; however, uncontrolled increase in blood pressure leaves the individuals at risk to develop heart ailments. According to a report by the World Health Organization in 2018, 1.1 billion people in the world have a raised blood pressure and less than 1 in 5 have it under control. Treatment of cardiovascular disease often requires the administration of numerous medications for long periods of time to patients likely to be old and suffering from a range of co-morbid conditions.
