Genus Mycobacterium
Mycobacteria are participants of the order Actinomycetales, and the most effective genus within the own family Mycobacteriaceae. Currently, the genus Mycobacterium has greater than 100 identified or proposed species, together with several pathogens and saprophytic organisms of warm-blooded animals. The distinguishing traits of this genus include acid-fastness and the presence of mycolic acids. Mycobacteria are narrow, non spore-forming, rod-formed, aerobic, gradual-growing, and loose-residing in soil and water. These bacteria have a technology time of about 20 h, for this reason isolation and identification may additionally absorb to 6 weeks (even though a few species might also grow in best 5–7 days).
