First Labour Work
During the first stage of labor, contractions make your cervix gradually open (dilate). This is usually the longest stage of labour. At the start of labour, your cervix starts to soften so it can open. This is called the latent phase and you'll feel irregular contractions. For most first-time moms, early labor lasts about 6 to 12 hours. You can spend this time at home or wherever you're most comfortable. During early labor: you'll feel mild contractions that come every 5 to fifteen minutes and last 60 to 90 seconds. The earliest recorded strike occurred in 1768 when journeymen tailors protested a wage reduction.
