Earth science or geoscience includes all fields of natural science related to the planet Earth. This is a branch of science dealing with the physical and chemical constitution of the Earth and its atmosphere. Earth science can be considered to be a branch of planetary science, but with a much older history. Earth sciences refer to different scientific fields. The fields of earth sciences are geology, physical geography, soil sciences, glaciology, atmospheric sciences, hydrology and geophysics. Scientists use tools from chronology, biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics to understanding the Earth system that has advanced to sound and environmental engineering. Innovations are a new idea, a new device or a new process. Innovations are better solutions of the application that meet new requirements, inarticulate needs or existing market needs. It is competent through more efficient products, processes, services, technologies or new ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society.

Some earth scientists use their knowledge to locate and develop energy and mineral resources. Others are studying the impact of human activity on Earth's environment and devising methods to protect the planet.
