The benefits of health informatics journals have long been established and that we are at the dawn of an era where we will hope to leverage these benefits to form patient care safer, more efficient, less expensive, more proactive and complete. However, lack of practical knowledge on linking clinical effectiveness to implementation success and return on investment has slowed adoption of health informatics. For health care to maneuver forward in adopting HIT successfully, institutions must be ready to share successes and failures, to find out from them collectively, to avoid repeating mistakes and to save lots of time, costs, and human lives.
