Biography
I, Shujat Ali, recently completed a Master's degree from the University of Swat, Pakistan, with a CGPA of 3.1 out of 4.00. I was an active, somehow indulgent student among others, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. I did my thesis project on "Pollen Morphology and Leaf Anatomy of the Family Rosaceae from Swat". After completing my master's studies, I have been working on ethnobotany. My research is often in Conservation ethnobotany, phytochemical analysis, phytomedicines, and antimicrobial drug derivations. I believe strongly that research should have useful outcomes for the future, both as applied action supporting better management of our natural resources as well as foundational, pure basic research that might lead to innovative, inspirational, and sometimes even serendipitous outcome.
Since then and up until now, I have published seven scientific papers and submitted about seven paper to Springer and Elsevier Publishers. Apart from that, I work as reviewer and I have reviewed 20 papers for Academia Publisher (Journal of Medicinal Plants Research), Hindawi Publisher (Journal of Advances in Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences) and Springer Publisher (Environment, Development, and Sustainability).
Early in my career, I worked on two projects: the Alpine Flora Project with Professor Dr. Hassan Sher (Pakistan) and the BIFA-GBIF research grant for "Digitization of Swat University Herbarium" in collaboration with Professor Dr Markworth Merry (USA). Currently, I am working on phytochemical analysis from medicinal plants (Derivation of antimicrobial drugs) and Ethnobotanical and Ethnomedicinal Data over the Swat, Shangla, and Dir district and Research Collaboration with Dr. Mehmooda Munazir (Pakistan) and Professor Dr. Andrea Pieroni (Italy).
