Biography
Dr. Osama M. Ahmed was granted Ph.D. (in 2000) in Physiology from Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. Ahmed is a professor of physiology at Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University, Beni-Suef, Egypt. His research interests are as follows: stem cell research, diabetes mellitus, maternal hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism effects on fetuses and offspring, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, and assessment of medicinal plant and their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 publications, and has also written 6 book chapters. He is an editorial board member in more than 26 international journals. He was awarded the State Incentive Prize (2014), Beni-Suef University Excellence Prize (2014) and the state excellence honor of the state first class in Egypt (2017). He is principal investigator and co-principal investigator in many research projects.
Research Interest
Diabetes mellitus (type 1, type 2 and neonatal diabetes mellitus), maternal hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism effects on fetuses and offspring, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, and assessment of medicinal plant and their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies as well as stem cell therapy in experimental animal model of diseases.
