Biography
Mr. Hossain Mohammad Younus Sirazi is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Law, University of Chittagong in Bangladesh. He was elevated to this teaching position on 01 November 2020. Before joining here as a Lecturer in Law on 05 May 2019, he had worked as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Law at the University of Barishal since 08 January 2017 and 09 April 2019 respectively. Prior to this role, he started his teaching career as a Lecturer in law at Daffodil International University, Dhaka. He is also an enrolled advocate at Dhaka Bar Association since 18 October 2014. With a decadelong law-teaching and advocacy background, Mr. Sirazi proactively champions human rights and social justice in academia and beyond. As a brilliant student, he earned an LLM degree focused on International and Comparative Law with an outstanding result securing CGPA 3.71 out of 4.00 and an LLB (Honours) from the Department of Law, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. As a legal consultant, volunteer, social engineer and human rights educator, he provides legal opinions and human rights education with professional skills and leadership potentials to various human rights organizations such Gender Justice, Lawyers for Energy, Environment and Development (LEED) Bangladesh, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) [translated into English- Bangladesh Environment Movement]. In addition, as a member of Chittagong University Teachers' Association Executive Committee-2022, he also played a pivotal role in advocating for fair and equitable treatment with dignity and realization of rights of university teachers emphasizing on the cause of meritocracy and fairness in promotions, salaries, and other professional recognitions and in upholding democratic values and public accountability within the institution as well as the state. Mr. Sirazi has published 07 articles in national and international peer-reviewed law and social science journals, emphasizing on human rights advancing social justice, constitutional jurisprudence, women?s rights, criminal law and sentencing particularly life imprisonment, animal rights law and animal jurisprudence, administrative law, as well as the principles of justice, fairness, democratic values and rule of law. With exceptional competence, remarkable research efficiency, profound analytical capabilities, and impressive interpersonal skills, he has been serving as a reviewer of International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science, India and as an associate editor of British Journal of Arts and Humanities, USA since 2019 and reviewed more than 14 articles. He supervised 08 students in articulating and preparing their research monographs in the fulfillment of LLM degree at the Department of Law and Land Administration, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh and examined 15 LLM research monographs from the same university as well since 2021. He wants to write extensively on social justice, democracy, constitutionalism, human rights and development and social change within the broad areas of law, justice and society and aims to build networks with researchers from the legal community and beyond across the globe.
